Stuteville Throws Shutout As South Spencer Defeats Gibson Southern
Brice Stuteville didn’t allow a single run as South Spencer defeated Gibson Southern 11-0 on Tuesday. Stuteville allowed just three hits and struck out #27 to end the game.
South Spencer grabbed an early lead. South Spencer scored on a single by Caleb Helms, a single by Dalton Bartlett, and a groundout by Mattew Bunch in the first inning.
South Spencer took an early lead in the first inning. With zero outs in the first inning Helms drove in one run when he singled.
South Spencer scored four runs in the third inning. South Spencer’s big inning was driven by a single by Dylan Kelly, a single by Sammy Rowan, and a walk by Brice Stuteville.
One bright spot for Gibson Southern was a single by Cale Colbert in the first inning.
Stuteville earned the win for South Spencer. He threw five innings, surrendering zero runs, three hits, and striking out three.
South Spencer had 14 hits in the game. Rowan, Helms, Bartlett, Kelly, Matthew Embry, and Dalton Schneider each collected multiple hits for South Spencer. Kelly and Helms each drove in two runs to lead South Spencer. South Spencer didn’t commit a single error in the field. Bunch had five chances in the field, the most on the team.
