Two Pitchers Team Up As South Spencer Shuts Out Tecumseh
South Spencer defeated Tecumseh 16-0 on Thursday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Caleb Helms induced a groundout from Carson White to finish off the game.
Sammy Rowan led South Spencer to victory by driving in four runs. He went 2-for-3 at the plate. Rowan drove in runs on a triple in the third and a double in the fourth.
South Spencer captured the lead in the first inning. An error scored one run for South Spencer.
South Spencer scored seven runs in the third inning. The big inning was thanks to a walk by Manning Webb, a walk by Dylan Kelly, a error, a triple by Rowan, and a single by Brice Stuteville.
A single by Ethan Hahn in the fifth inning was a positive for Tecumseh.
Rowan earned the win for South Spencer. He went three innings, allowing zero runs, zero hits, striking out two, and walking one. Gavin Oxley took the loss for Tecumseh. He tossed two and two-thirds innings, giving up nine runs, three hits, and striking out one.
South Spencer collected 11 hits. Stuteville, Rowan, Kelly, Jacob Lindsey, and Dalton Schneider each collected multiple hits for South Spencer. Schneider, Lindsey, Kelly, Rowan, and Stuteville all had two hits to lead South Spencer.
Hahn went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Tecumseh in hits.
