Helms Strong At The Plate As South Spencer Defeats Forest Park
Caleb Helms gave Forest Park fits, as he bagged four hits in South Spencer’s 12-2 victory on Thursday. Helms singled in the first, tripled in the fourth, tripled in the fifth, and doubled in the seventh.
An early lead helped propel South Spencer to victory. South Spencer scored on a walk by Dalton Schneider in the first inning, a single by Mattew Bunch in the first inning, and a double by Sammy Rowan in the second inning.
South Spencer captured the lead in the first inning. Schneider drove in a run when he walked with the bases loaded.
South Spencer scored five runs in the fourth inning. South Spencer’s big inning was driven by a home run by Rowan, a double by Dalton Bartlett, and a error.
Rowan earned the win for South Spencer. He pitched seven innings, giving up two runs, two hits, striking out 11, and walking one. Elliot Rothgerber took the loss for Forest Park. He threw one inning, surrendering zero runs, one hit, striking out one, and walking one.
Gavin Knust started the game for Forest Park. He threw two and a third innings, giving up five runs, seven hits, and striking out two.
South Spencer collected 16 hits. Caleb Helms, Bartlett, Rowan, Bunch, and Matthew Embry each collected multiple hits for South Spencer.
Reid Brown went 2-for-3 at the plate as he led the team with one run batted in.
