Rowan Drives In Four As South Spencer Defeats Southridge
Sammy Rowan drove in four on three hits to lead South Spencer past Southridge 15-5 on Monday. Rowan drove in runs on a double in the first, a single in the sixth, and a double in the seventh.
South Spencer earned the victory despite allowing Southridge to score three runs in the sixth inning. Southridge’s big inning was driven by a error, a single by Michael Brown, and a walk by Nolan O’Brien.
South Spencer took an early lead in the first inning. South Spencer scored one run when Sammy Rowan doubled with one out in the first inning.
South Spencer took the lead for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third Matthew Embry singled off of Kade Allen, driving in one run, Allen walked Manning Webb to drive in a run, and Caleb Helms hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run.
South Spencer scored five runs in the seventh inning. The big inning was thanks to a double by Rowan, a double by Brice Stuteville, and a single by Mattew Bunch.
Southridge scored three runs in the sixth inning. The big inning for Southridge came thanks to a error, a single by Brown, and a walk by O’Brien.
Stuteville earned the win for South Spencer. He threw five and two-thirds innings, surrendering five runs, five hits, and striking out three. Logan Seger took the loss for Southridge. He went two and two-thirds innings, giving up six runs, six hits, and striking out one.
Allen started the game for Southridge. He went three innings, allowing four runs, five hits, and striking out two.
South Spencer had 17 hits in the game. Bunch, Rowan, Helms, Embry, and Dalton Schneider each collected multiple hits for South Spencer.
Ross Eckert led Southridge with two hits in three at bats.
