South Spencer Falls To Evansville North On Walkoff
South Spencer fell to Evansville North 11-10 on Wednesday on the final play of the game. The game was tied at ten with Evansville North batting in the bottom of the ninth when Warfield singled off of Manning Webb, driving in one run.
South Spencer fell behind by four runs in the fourth inning, but then tried to fight back. South Spencer scored seven runs in the failed comeback on a double by Sammy Rowan in the sixth, a wild pitch in the seventh, and a single by Dalton Schneider in the ninth.
Evansville North took an early lead in the first inning. With one out in the first inning Fleming drove in one run when he singled.
South Spencer scored three runs in the sixth inning. South Spencer scored its runs on a double by Rowan.
Evansville North scored five runs in the fourth inning. Evansville North’s big inning was driven by a walk by Senisun, a single by Collins, and a single by Fleming.
Manning Webb took the loss for South Spencer. He threw four and two-thirds innings, surrendering four runs, four hits, and striking out three.
Schneider started the game for South Spencer. He pitched four innings, surrendering seven runs, five hits, and striking out four.
South Spencer had 13 hits in the game. Caleb Helms, Rowan, Dylan Kelly, and Schneider each collected multiple hits for South Spencer. Helms led South Spencer with three hits in four at bats.
Evansville North collected nine hits. Fleming and Collins each collected multiple hits for Evansville North.
