Helms’s Walkoff Gives South Spencer Victory Over Evansville North
South Spencer took Saturday’s game in dramatic fashion, with a 10-9 walk-off victory over Evansville North. South Spencer trailed 9-8 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Caleb Helms doubled off of #8, driving in two runs.
Both offenses were strong at the plate as South Spencer collected 17 hits and Evansville North 14
Evansville North captured the lead in the second inning. An error scored one run for Evansville North.
South Spencer scored four runs in the fourth inning. South Spencer’s big inning was driven by a double by Dylan Kelly, a single by Manning Webb, and a double by Sammy Rowan.
Evansville North scored four runs in the third inning. The big inning for Evansville North came thanks to a walk by Toone, a single by #12, and a single.
Chase Howell earned the win for South Spencer. He went four innings, surrendering four runs, and seven hits. #13 took the loss for Evansville North. He pitched one inning, giving up three runs, four hits, striking out one, and walking zero.
Bury started the game for Evansville North. He threw three innings, surrendering four runs, seven hits, striking out five, and walking zero. Webb started the game for South Spencer. He pitched three innings, surrendering five runs, seven hits, and striking out three.
Rowan, Brice Stuteville, Webb, and Dalton Schneider each collected multiple hits for South Spencer. Webb went 3-for-4 at the plate as he led the team with three runs batted in.
#12, Wheeler, Fleming, Archuleta, and Collins each collected multiple hits for Evansville North.
