South Spencer Varsity Rebels Defeat Southridge By GameChanger Media South Spencer Varsity Rebels beat Southridge 5-2 on Tuesday. Southridge got on the board in the top of the first inning after R Whitehead singled to center field, and South Spencer Varsity Rebels committed an error, each scoring one run. South Spencer Varsity Rebels tied the game in the bottom of the first thanks to a single by Beau Heck, and a double by Ty Mattingly. A triple by Ty Brown gave South Spencer Varsity Rebels the lead, 4-2, in the bottom of the second. Denver Epperson stepped on the hill first for South Spencer Varsity Rebels. The southpaw allowed two hits and two runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out seven and walking four. Buse opened the game for Southridge. The hurler gave up five hits and four runs over one and one-third innings, striking out none and walking none. Tate Schulte tossed two innings of shutout ball for South Spencer Varsity Rebels in relief. The reliever surrendered zero hits, striking out two and walking none. South Spencer Varsity Rebels piled up nine hits in the game. Brown went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Mattingly went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead South Spencer Varsity Rebels in hits. Whitehead went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Whitehead and Schwartz each collected one hit for Southridge. Whitehead stole two bases. Southridge turned two double plays in the game.
