The Boys Soccer team won a thriller against Northeast Dubois in overtime, with the final score of 4-3. The Rebels fell behind early with the Jeeps scoring in the 3rd minute of play. Northeast Dubois would find the net again mid way through the half to make the score line 2-0. With 10 minutes left to go before halftime Lucky Kirchgessner hit in a corner that found its way off the keeper and just crossing over the goal line for the Rebels first goal on the night.
The Jeeps were able to get another early goal in the 2nd half to see the score move to 3-1. The rest of the half would see the Rebels own possession resulting in many shots on goal. With 10:27 left to go in the game T.J. Parsley was able to get on the end of a cross into the 6 yard box and barely get the ball over the goal line to bring the Rebels back within 1. T.J. wasn’t done yet. With just 4:56 left in the game and the boys down 3-2 he was able to take the ball out of the air and use his chest to hit it in to draw the score level at 3-3. The Rebels took the tie to overtime and were able to dominate the game. The first 7 minute half was scoreless. The 2nd 7 minute half of overtime remained scoreless until 1 minute left in the game. Lucky Kirchgessner was able to find his cousin Garett on the right wing who took a shot that deflected off the keeper. Garett would not miss the rebound opportunity poking the ball just under the goalies hands for the game winning goal.
The boys will now play for their first Sectional title in Soccer on Saturday night at 6:00 cst. The game will be played at Northeast Dubois.
