Castle Runs Away With Early Lead In Victory
Lady Rebels watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 13-5 loss to Castle on Tuesday. Castle scored on a single by Cecilia Knapp in the first inning, a double by Gabby Lakes in the first inning, a single by Jenna Lis in the second inning, a single by Hannah Hood in the second inning, a single by Ella Bassett in the second inning, a single by Abbi Jacquess in the second inning, and a single by Adriana Chavez in the second inning.
The Lady Rebels struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Castle, giving up 13 runs.
Castle opened up scoring in the first inning. Knapp drove in one when she singled.
Lady Rebels put up three runs in the third inning. Lady Rebels’s big bats in the inning were led by singles by Hannah Compton and Averi Myers and a double by AJ Middleton.
Castle scored eight runs in the second inning. Castle’s big inning was driven by singles by Lis, Hood, Bassett, Jacquess, and Chavez.
Meghan Humphrey earned the victory on the rubber for Castle. She allowed 14 hits and five runs over seven innings, striking out seven and walking one.
Myers took the loss for Lady Rebels. She went one inning, allowing eight runs on seven hits and striking out one.
Lady Rebels tallied 14 hits. Ashton Rasor, Samantha Helms, Middleton, Compton, and Emilee Schulte each managed multiple hits for Lady Rebels. Rasor led Lady Rebels with three hits in five at bats.
Castle racked up 16 hits. Chavez, Hood, Peyton Phillips, and Lakes each collected multiple hits for Castle. Chavez went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Castle in hits.
